This scholarship was established by Mrs. Carolyn Wood, the wife of Col. Smythe J. Wood, to honor his memory and celebrate his love for the Commonwealth of Virginia and UVA. The scholarship recognizes and supports students from Col. Wood’s former high school, Norview High School, in Norfolk, Virginia. It keeps the memory alive of a person who truly loved UVA and shows students that a person who came from a low-income family can achieve their dreams in life through hard work and studying.
