The Alumni Association Alumni Family Scholarship was created in 2009 to support the children of alumni attending UVA. The Alumni Family Scholarship is open to incoming undergraduate students whose mother, father, step-parent, or legal guardian earned a degree from UVA. Selection is based on merit and financial circumstances, and preference may be given to children of Contributing Members of the Alumni Association.
The Alumni Family Scholarship award is $5,000 annually and is renewable for up to three years.

Named Alumni Family Scholarship Endowments
The Alumni Association is honored to administer two named scholarships as part of the Alumni Family Scholarship program. Both are named for Alumni Association employees who truly made a difference: Cynthia Darr Carver and Molly Bass.
Cynthia Darr Carver Scholarship
The Cynthia Darr Garver Scholarship was created in 2017 to honor the retirement of Cindy Garver (Col ’80), long-time Managing Director of the Alumni Association Admission Liaison Program (now known as College Compass). The first Cynthia Darr Garver Scholar was named in 2018.
Molly Bass Memorial Scholarship
The Molly Bass Memorial Scholarship was created in 2023 in memory of Molly Bass (Col ’88, Educ ’90) by her family and friends. Molly was the heart and soul of the Scholarships and Endowment program at the Alumni Association for 27 years and was influential in creating the Alumni Family Scholarship.
