Sherri King Memorial Scholarship

In 2014, the University of Virginia investment community grieved the sudden and tragic loss of Sherri King, a Managing Director with the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO).  After 12 years on Wall Street, Sherri joined UVIMCO in 2012 and held responsibilities in fixed income, credit, marketable alternatives, risk management and asset allocation.  Sherri’s investment acumen, tireless work ethic and leadership had a significant impact upon UVIMCO during her time with the institution.  Sherri was an immensely talented, generous and valued colleague who served as a role model to young women and everyone in the University of Virginia community.  The Sherri King Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving rising third-year or fourth-year female student who has demonstrated excellence in mathematics, economics, or finance at the University of Virginia, and who by their initiative, inclusive style and service have provided an example of responsible leadership for their classmates or the Charlottesville community.  These young women should stand out both academically and as potential future leaders in their chosen fields of study.

The scholarship is in the amount of in-state tuition and fees .  Recipients will also be provided with unique opportunities to network with and be mentored by investment professionals who worked closely with Sherri King on Wall Street and/or in Charlottesville.
