Kristen (Comm ’02), Patrick (College ’06) and Derek (Comm ’17) Rush were all fortunate to graduate from the University of Virginia. Their parents were blessed to be involved with the Parents Committee for more than 15 years, serving as the co-chairs for two terms. The family created this scholarship to help other Virginia residents experience the many opportunities at this incomparable University.
The scholarship is awarded annually to a current 2nd or 3rd year student who is a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia who demonstrates academic merit, financial need and involvement in the University community. Applicants should also have held or currently hold a job, either as part-time employment during the academic year or summer employment. Preference may be given to students who are first generation college students. The award for the 2020–21 academic year is $8,000 and is non-renewable.
