Elizabeth Rose Coggins Scholarship

Liz’s greatest dream was to attend the University of Virginia and graduate with the Class of 2000 with an engineering degree. She possessed leadership skills, a wonderful sense of humor, a strong sense of loyalty to her friends, and a kind heart. She loved life, helping others, and solving problems. Although only at UVA for about a month of her first year before she passed away on Sept. 21, 1996, Liz shall ever be a student at Mr. Jefferson’s University.

This is a very special memorial scholarship, which was named to honor the memory of Elizabeth “Liz” Coggins. The scholarship is merit rather than need based and will be awarded annually to a rising third- or fourth-year female member in the School of Engineering who has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. It is through the generosity of Liz’s friends, classmates and family that this scholarship is possible. This year the scholarship award will be $11,000, and will be made available in Spring 2023. Previous applicants who have not received the scholarship may re-apply.

The Alumni Association is proud to administer this scholarship honoring Liz’s memory.
