The Dr. Everett W. Butler Jr. O.D. Scholarship, established by Kenneth W. Butler and Colleen F. Butler of Oakton, Va., is in memory of Mr. Butler’s father, Dr. Everett W. Butler Jr. Dr. Butler practiced optometry for more than 20 years in Bradford, Pa. He and his wife, Grace, raised four sons and were active in their schools and community. Dr. Butler passed away in 1975.
Dr. Butler’s dedication to his family and his commitment to the profession of optometry were important considerations in creating this scholarship, which each year benefits a third- or fourth-year student enrolled at the University of Virginia. Recipients must be residents of North Carolina, Virginia or Pennsylvania, and must be majoring in the sciences.
The award is for $4,000 and will be paid in Spring 2020.
