The Dietz Family Scholarship has been established to support first generation college students with an interest in S.T.E.M. fields. Both of the donors were first generation graduates and have established this fund to assist worthy students to complete their college studies without undue financial burdens. College education opens many doors and will alter your life forever.
The scholarship is open to all students who are current second- or third-year undergraduates enrolled full-time at UVA and majoring in a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) field. Recipients must be United States citizens and their principal place of residence must be in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or West Virginia. Applicants must also be receiving financial aid. The award can be renewed through the recipient’s fourth-year of study provided they maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and qualify for financial aid as determined by Student Financial Services. The award for the 2020–21 year will be $2,000.
