David and Jane Walentas Zeta Psi Scholarship

It was the Spring of 2017. David and Jane invited more than 30 Zetes, their spouses and significant others to a Zete reunion in New York at his wonderful restoration project known as DUMBO. They arrived on Thursday evening, stayed in David’s hotel in Brooklyn and enjoyed an outstanding weekend catching up with so many brothers, many who had not seen each other since their days with David at UVA (1958-1961).  David has always been grateful for his UVA experience and he has made significant contributions to the Zeta Psi house restoration projects, the Darden School, the Jefferson Scholars Foundation, and many other beneficiaries of his philanthropy across Grounds. He has always been concerned and supportive of students who find a university education to be a difficult financial burden. Because of his service and unending support of the University, and to express their gratitude for all David has done for the fraternity and the University, these Zetes overwhelmingly supported the formation of the David and Jane Walentas Zeta Psi Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize current Zete brothers who exemplify the characteristics that David exhibited during his tenure at UVA. The creation of this scholarship, in David’s and Jane’s honor, was announced at the spring 2017 reunion event.
