Quent Alcorn (Class of 2016) spent his years in Charlottesville dedicated to his friends, to his schoolwork, and to his community—all while injecting his signature sense fun and humor to everything and everyone he encountered.
In his memory, the Quentin Alcorn Memorial Scholarship serves to recognize those at the University of Virginia who continue to embody these traits and positively impact the lives of those around them.
The deadline for this year has passed.
The 2025 winner of the Quentin Alcorn Scholarship is Meredith Collier.
Meredith is a rising 4th-year from Richmond, Virginia pursuing a B.S.Ed. in Youth and Social Innovation – Policy and Data Analysis Concentration and B.A. in Spanish. After graduation, she will attend the Batten School, pursuing an accelerated MPP with the goal of creating more equitable and accessible K-12 public school systems in the state of Virginia. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and currently serves as the President of the Inter-Sorority Council. Additionally, Meredith is a Research Assistant in the School of Education, First-Year small group leader at the Wesley Foundation, and a member of UVA Club Softball.
Meredith stood out in our interview for her passion in connecting with a variety of people and bringing communities together. As ISC President, she has established the Emerging Greek Leaders Cabinet to present sorority underclassmen with additional opportunities to gain leadership experience. As a big sister in the Young Women Leaders Program, she was able to personally connect and mentor middle school aged little sisters to help guide them through personal and academic pursuits. She shared how her time in Valencia showed her how to connect with people despite language barriers. She has also served as philanthropy chair for her sorority and social chair for Club Softball. This gift of being able to relate with and unite people is something we loved in Quent and are confident will lead Meredith to flourish in the future.
