About Rozanne "Roze" Worrell
Rozanne “Roze” Worrell, CLAS ’82, has a B.A. in American Government from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in Humanities from Old Dominion University. Before becoming a workplace columnist & consultant and career strategist, Roze worked over 20 years in the federal government, non-profit, and private sector. in the private sector, non-profit, and public service for the federal government. Her diverse career path includes four years in market development for the Dow Chemical Company; two years in fundraising and grantwriting as the Director of Development for the Virginia Opera; and 14 years in law enforcement as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Today, Roze owns and operates Workplace Woes – Roze Knows, a company grounded in the philosophy H.E.A.R.T.™ – Honesty, Empathy, Adaptability, Responsibility, and Teamwork enveloped in passion and respect, a philosophy she developed when she started her business but has a unique origin that dates back to 1982. She is an advice columnist and consultant, and career strategist. She pens an advice column, Workplace Woes – Roze Knows®, which provides common sense advice for common workplace problems. Her seminars and motivational speeches address a variety of work/life skills including but not limited to communications, leadership, teambuilding, mentoring, conflict resolution, and customer service. She also facilitates retreats, provides strategies to improve toxic work environments, and conducts a variety of interactive workshops for businesses, government agencies, non-profits, and other organizations to increase management’s and employees’ productivity, improve their morale, and promote teamwork. Additionally, she conducts one-on-one strategy sessions to assist individuals in every aspect of their careers.
Roze is a member of the Southeastern Virginia Chapter of the American Society for Training & Development and a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. She has appeared on WVEC-TV’s news shows, WHRV’s (NPR affiliate) radio show “HearSay,” as well as WTAR’s “Ask the Expert” and WHOV’s “The Wil LaVeist Show” talk radio shows. She was named one of the outstanding business women in Hampton Roads by Inside Business magazine (2008).
Volunteer work has always been an integral part of Roze’s life. Currently, she serves as 1st Vice President on the Board of Directors of the Norfolk Crime Line, a non-profit organization that aims to improve the public safety of all individuals who live, work, shop, and/or bank in the city ofNorfolk. She is also a community volunteer and advocate for the Hampton Roads, VA Social Services’ Financial Exploitation Action Team (FEAT), which strives to ensure that the elderly and disabled are not financially exploited, and serves on the Norfolk Technical Center Public Safety – Criminal Justice Advisory Board. In the past, she was an officer on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society and served as a wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
