The UVA Alumni Association is committed to making Reunions an inclusive and accessible experience for everyone. When you purchase your ticket for Reunions, you’ll have the option on the registration form to indicate if you require any disability-related accommodations to successfully participate in the event. If you do require an accommodation, a member of our team will email you about your request.
The most direct way to access many Reunions events is by foot, often on uneven terrain, due to lack of parking/vehicular access immediately surrounding the Lawn. If you have a valid disabled permit or license plate displayed, you may park in an accessible parking space anywhere on Grounds—including spots along McCormick Rd. near the Lawn. Additionally, accessible University Transit buses will provide looping shuttle service to many Reunions events.
Service animals as defined by the University of Virginia that are on-leash/under control are welcome at the events of Reunions. However, emotional support animals as defined by the University of Virginia’s policy or other pets are not welcome.
Check in for Reunions will take place at the Alumni Association. Here, you’ll receive your nametag, which serves as your ticket for the events you’ve registered to attend, and other information. 20-minute parking is available for check-in. No permit is necessary.
Check-in at the Alumni Association is open during the following hours:
- Thursday, May 29, 12–6 p.m.
- Friday, May 30, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Saturday, May 31, 8 a.m.–3 p.m.
Other things to know about check-in at the Alumni Association:

- Enjoy a complimentary wine tasting at the Alumni Association from Reunions sponsors Barboursville Vineyard and Southwest Mountains Vineyards on Friday, May 30 from 3–5 p.m.
- Yes, you can pick up your friends’ nametags for them—how nice of you!
- The Alumni Association, the Office of Engagement and the Office of Reunion Giving will be on-site to share information about their programs and services.
Lost items will be returned to the Alumni Association for pick-up throughout the weekend.
The attire for all Reunions events is casual, and we encourage alumni to dress so that they feel comfortable and festive. Check out photos from Reunions 2024 and 2023 for examples of the wide variety of attire!
Spring weather in Virginia is unpredictable, so please plan for a variety of weather scenarios. Additionally, indoor locations are heavily air-conditioned, please bring a jacket, shawl, or sweater to ensure you stay comfortable.

The Alumni Association is taking steps to make Reunions a zero-waste event. By that, we mean that 90% or more of the waste generated by Reunions events is recycled or composted instead of being hauled to a landfill.
Here’s what you can expect to see on Grounds during Reunions:
- Reduced paper at check-in. Instead of printing paper agendas for each guest, we’ll rely on the use of a mobile app and website for information sharing.
- More sustainable hydration. Instead of using plastic water bottles at events, you’ll find refill stations (to be used with compostable cups or your own beverage container).
- Composting at large events featuring food and beverage. Plates, cups, utensils and napkins at your evening class events will either be compostable or reusable.
Multiple types of waste bins. Instead of just trash bins, you’ll see recycling, composting and trash bins at large events featuring food and beverage. If you’re not sure where to toss an item, refer to the signage on the bins or ask a member of the catering team.
The Alumni Association is proud to partner with organizations across Grounds to offer programming during Reunions weekends:
- Alumni Association’s Alumni Career Engagement
- Alumni Association’s College Compass Program

UVA Alerts is the comprehensive mass notification system that deploys emergency messages to warn people of an imminent threat, and advises them on actions to take. Anyone who wishes to receive UVA Alerts via text can opt-in by texting “UVA” to 226787.
In May, registered alumni will receive an invitation to download the UVA Alumni Events app. The app will give you access to your personal schedule, the full weekend schedule, send you timely event updates, allow to you message other alumni, and much more!
The UVA Alumni Association works with the Office of Emergency Management to make decisions on whether to hold events outdoors or indoors, and these decisions often must be made as early as 9 a.m. for the entire day. This early call gives our partners (caterers, rental companies, AV/lighting companies, University facilities, event staff, etc.) time to adjust their logistics and move materials for these large-scale events.
Please know that we want nothing more than to host all our events (especially dinners) in their original outdoor locations. Nothing can compare to a dinner on the Lawn! However, the reality of summer in Virginia is that we must make the best decision we can with the information we have at the time we have it.
Inclement weather locations are listed in the description of each event. If the Alumni Association makes the decision to move an event, you will receive an email from the Alumni Association, and if you opt to download the UVA Alumni Events app you will receive a push notification. Updates will also be listed on the Reunions website and within the UVA Alumni Events app. If you do not receive a message, the event is taking place outdoors as scheduled.
