All alumni, parents, and friends are invited to join your fellow Hoos when we volunteer at the San Francisco Food Bank on Saturday, August 11th!
We’ll help sort fresh produce, package bulk foods, assemble grocery boxes for seniors, and/or sort donations from food drives. Children are welcome, too (please note the minimum age to volunteer is 8). Afterwards we can grab some food or a drink nearby.
We look forward to seeing you there as we help out in the local community!
Closed-toe shoes are required at all volunteer projects. We recommend volunteers not wear jewelry. If worn, all items must be covered by the provided gloves and/or hairnets. We suggest dressing in casual and clean layers, as the temperature in the warehouse is often cool.
Please utilize available free street parking in front of our building (4-hour time limit) so that our agency shoppers can use our parking lot to load their vehicles. The south parking lot by the loading dock is also available at this time. Please lock your car and keep all valuables out of sight. The Food Bank cannot be responsible for any lost or stolen items.
In San Francisco and Marin, one in four people faces the threat of hunger. Hunger means a consistent lack of enough food to meet basic nutritional requirements. People at risk of hunger often face tough choices, such as deciding whether to buy food for dinner or pay the electric bill or buy medicine.
