On-Air with Dean Bob Pianta

Robert Pianta joined On-Air with UVA to discuss “K-12 Education in a Pandemic.Robert Pianta (PAR ’08, ’13) is the Dean of the School of Education and Human Development, Novartis Professor of Education, and the Founding Director, Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning at the University of Virginia.

Together, we engaged in a conversation about schooling during the COVID-19 pandemic—and what to expect in its aftermath. We explored how racial, disability and socioeconomic disparities have been exacerbated by the new learning-from-home model.  We also discussed how technology can play a key role in supporting students during the 2020–21 school year—and beyond—to shape a more effective and equitable system of schooling in the future.
