Overview

The U.Va. Nursing Alumni Association and Cavalier Travels have once again partnered to create this unique service opportunity to go to Vietnam and provide much-needed basic medical services to a large orphanage and several villages in the poorest regions of the country. You will work with English-speaking Vietnamese nursing students from Quang Tri Medical school as translators who will learn from you as you work together.

Use your expertise to help make the world a better place for some of the poorest people. You will offer medical checkups, administer vaccines and conduct a hygiene class for the children. In addition to healthcare work, you will be a cultural ambassador to the people we meet. Non-health-care-related companions or spouses are welcome and may participate in service in various ways. We will do some sightseeing Vietnam Sceneryalong the way and the option for an extension to Cambodia to see the iconic temples at Angkor Wat is available.

* Last year’s trip was incredible and some comments from the participants include:

“It was so great to volunteer with such awesome people and have the opportunity to interact with locals in such a unique way.”

“It was really great having the Vietnamese group and Marcia and Max to work with. There are so many aspects of the trip that were meaningful and then also so many funny things that we shared.”

“One of the best trips I have ever taken. I enjoyed the other travelers and the UVA staff and our guide, Tien, very much. Overall- an incredible experience. Can’t wait to go back to Vietnam!”
