Frequently Asked Questions
Who is invited to Reunions 2020?
This year, the UVA Alumni Association welcomes members of the Thomas Jefferson Society (alumni who graduated 50 years or more ago) and individual classes celebrating milestone reunions (1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1985) back to the Grounds for UVA Reunions.
When does registration open?
Paid registration opens in early 2020. Until then, fill out the Planning to Attend form to update your contact information and to let the Alumni Association know that you’re planning on attending Reunions.
When will I get more information about Reunions?
This website will be updated with additional information (hotel blocks, weekend schedule, FAQs, etc.) throughout the summer, and registration will open in early 2020. From mid-July through May 2020, alumni celebrating a reunion in 2020 will receive various printed and digital marketing materials from the UVA Alumni Association regarding their reunion. You will receive your Reunion brochure and an email about registration in early 2020.
How much does it cost to attend Reunions?
Though Reunions is heavily subsidized by the University and the Alumni Association, some fees are necessary. Prices are dependent on class year and the number of activities in which you choose to participate. Additionally, if you are bringing guests you must register them and pay the associated per person registration fees for all activities in which they choose to participate. Typically, prices range between $75-$220 per person.
When should I plan to come into town for Reunions?
While the majority of events will occur on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, Reunion events begin on Thursday, June 4 and end at noon on Sunday, June 7 after brunch.
Where is lodging available during Reunions?
Lodging is available both on- and off-Grounds. See our Accommodations page for more information and a list of local hotel room blocks.
How is this Reunion different from years past?
In 2016, the UVA Reunions program moved to a two-weekend model due to the tremendous success of previous Reunions and to accommodate our growing alumni population. This new format has allowed UVA Reunions to be responsive to alumni feedback regarding hotel and parking availability, appropriate and comprehensive programming, outdoor on-Grounds venues (i.e. fitting more events on the Lawn), indoor on-Grounds venues (air-conditioned indoor spaces in the event of inclement weather), scheduling of faculty and alumni speakers, preference of date, availability of the best vendors/caterers, and access to on-Grounds accommodations (Lawn/Range/Dorm rooms), among other factors.
I can’t attend Reunions, but I would like to make a gift to support my class. How do I do that?
For information about making a Reunion gift or your class giving efforts, please call 1-800-688-9882 or 434-924-7698. You can also make a class gift online. Thank you for supporting your class!
