Virtual Decorating Focaccia Garden Tutorial

September 9, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join in on the latest kitchen craze – focaccia gardens! Our Executive Director Amelia Wald (CLAS ’19) will lead participants in a decorating tutorial. While all garden styles are welcome, Amelia will be creating a Rotunda and Lawn garden.

Participants will be responsible for preparing their own focaccia dough for the tutorial. Amelia will use this New York Times Cooking recipe, but any recipe will work. We recommend preparing your dough 24 – 48 hours in advance. Decorating occurs after dough rises but before baking.

Follow along on our Instagram stories for dough updates starting September 7.

Suggested decorating supplies include:

  • Bell Peppers
  • Fresh Herbs, such as Thyme, Rosemary, Dill, and Chives
  • Seeds, such as Poppy, Sesame, and Sunflower
  • Onions and Shallots
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Finishing Salt, such as Maldon

If you would prefer to watch only, feel free to tune into the tutorial and prepare your own garden at a later date. Whether you’re a James-Beard-Award-Winning chef or a tentative home cook, all are welcome to attend.

Send us pictures of your focaccia gardens to be featured on our social media!

Registrants will receive the Zoom link via email prior to the event. We ask that participants register by 12:00 p.m. the day of the event.

If you have questions, feel free to email us at uvanyc@uvanyc.org.
