The Art of the Elevator Pitch – Part I

March 9, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

Hoos in Entrepreneurship Presents the Art of the Elevator Pitch

Whether you’re a solopreneur or a CEO, bootstrapping or fundraising, selling to consumers or businesses—everyone needs a concise and effective explanation of what they do and why the world needs it! Join us for a discussion on what makes an effective pitch, and how to go about forming (or refining) your own.

Part 1: David Touve from the Batten Institute at the Darden School of Business will guide us through a dissection of a founder pitch section by section, help us draw insights on what works, what doesn’t, what’s missing, what’s too much—and why.

Part 2: We’ll put our insights into practice by working on our own “elevator pitches” independently and sharing them at a follow-up session. Please plan to join us for Part 2 on 3/23 at 6:00 PM! (Note: feel free to attend just one session or both!)

About David Touve:

David is the Senior Director of The Batten Institute at the Darden School of Business. A former Assistant Professor and Director of the Galant Center for Entrepreneurship within the McIntire School of Commerce, he helps emerging entrepreneurs across the University in the context of classes, workshops and competitions. Prior to turning his attention to teaching, David founded or held management roles in a series of startups, leading to experience across the life cycle of new ventures — from idea to acquisition and, at times, failure — from the time he founded his first venture at age 23.

You will receive an email with the Zoom link on the day prior to the event. We ask that participants register by 12:00 p.m. on the day of the event.
