Rotunda Planetarium Virtual Lecture
March 25, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join the Virginia Club of New York for a virtual lecture with the team behind the Rotunda Planetarium!
Launched in November 2019, Rotunda Planetarium revives the original vision for the University of Virginia’s Rotunda. Powered by an array of digital projectors, the installation at the center of the project transforms the Rotunda’s dome (UVA’s architectural centerpiece and a UNESCO world heritage site) into an eighteenth-century star map. In this lecture, the Rotunda Planetarium team, UVA PhD students Neal Curtis (GSAS ’18, ’22), Sam Lemley (GSAS ’20), and Madeline Zehnder (GSAS ’21), will recount the research, work, and programming that led up to the project’s launch. They will also share plans for the project’s future.
Following the lecture, there will be a period of interactive audience Q&A.
Registrants will receive the Zoom link via email prior to the event. We ask that participants register by 12:00 p.m. on the day of the event.
