Hoos Invited: Unfriendly to Liberty Book Talk
June 12 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Free – $5Alumni, family, and friends are invited to a book talk featuring UVA staff member and researcher Christopher Minty’s Unfriendly to Liberty!
This lecture focuses on the origins of the American Revolution in New York City from the perspective of those who became loyalists. Unfriendly to Liberty argues that longstanding political partisanship played a hitherto underappreciated role in determining their allegiance during the Revolution.
This talk is hosted by the Fraunces Tavern museum, a historical tavern that played an important role in the American Revolution. At various points in its history, Fraunces Tavern served as a headquarters for George Washington, a venue for peace negotiations with the British, and housing federal offices in the Early Republic.
This talk is also offered via Zoom.
