Hoos in Entrepreneurship Knowledge Collective #2

April 14, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for the second edition of our virtual Knowledge Collective!

Join us for our virtual Knowledge Collective, a chance for entrepreneurial Hoos from all over to get together and discuss a book or podcast with ideas that can change your business. The purpose of this series is to tap into the collective intelligence of our entrepreneurial community, infused with ideas from experts—because we all have so much to gain from the “power of we”!

We’ll be discussing David Epstein’s concept of Range, an argument for more generalized over specialized knowledge that has great relevance for entrepreneurs. Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel. Generalists often find their path late, and they juggle many interests rather than focusing on one. They’re also more creative, more agile, and able to make connections their more specialized peers can’t see.

Please listen to this podcast and/or this other podcast with Epstein and come ready to discuss this intriguing concept! You can also read Epstein’s book Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World, if you like.

Wherever you’re based and whatever point you’re at in your entrepreneurial journey, we’d love for you to join us!

Have you read or listened to something else that got you particularly inspired? We’d love to hear about it (and have you share with the rest of the Knowledge Collective)! Contact Allison to share: allisongeller1@gmail.com.
