Join the Virginia Club of New York for a UVA grad-led tour of the Walker Art Collection Sale at Sotheby’s!

Join us to preview an exhibition of 200+ deaccessioned contemporary prints from the Walker Art Center, including works by acclaimed artists Nancy Graves, Helen Frankenthaler, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Joan Mitchell, Robert Motherwell, Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol, among numerous others.

The Walker in Twin Cities, MN has come to be recognized as an important repository of contemporary prints, with approximately half of its collection comprised of works on paper. This includes artists working in traditional printmaking techniques and those who push the boundaries of the discipline. Virginia Club guests will have the chance to tour the works prior to the sale on March 30, learn about how Sotheby’s works with museums, and ask questions of Hoo members of Sotheby’s staff. The tour will be led by Christy Coombs (CLAS ’05), SVP Museum and Art Advisory, and Chanler Rutherfurd (CLAS ’13), Prints Specialist.
