Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow w/ New-York Historical Society

August 13, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Based on the New-York Historical Society‘s 2018-19 exhibition, this virtual presentation explores Black Americans’ struggle for equality under the law from 1865 through World War I. Learn about both Southern and Northern roles in this dark chapter of our history as well as Black New Yorkers’ organizing and community-building in the face of discrimination.

Attendees will view a shared PowerPoint presentation delivered by Lily Wong, Assistant Curator and Manager of History Exhibits, and introduced by Kristi Tremblay, Group Sales and Docent Manager. Attendees will have the ability to interact via video, audio, Q&A and live chat during the program.

Registrants will be emailed a Zoom link prior to the event. We ask that participants register by 12:00 p.m. on the day of the event.

If you have questions, feel free to email us at uvanyc@uvanyc.org.
