Megan O’Donnell (CLAS ’13) traveled to Morocco twice, once during her undergraduate experience with the U.Va. in Morocco program, and a second time more recently during her graduate studies at Oxford.
Megan’s travel advice: Plan as much as possible, but embrace what wasn’t initially in your plan. Before going abroad, figure out how to dress most appropriately, how to communicate most effectively, and how to convey respect for your host culture. Then when you get wherever you’re going, expect to be surprised, and be willing to seize new opportunities and do things that get you outside of your comfort zone.”
