Institutions around the country are working to better understand their historical relationships to slavery. Michel Martin, Emmy Award-winning journalist with NPR, will lead two panel discussions featuring university faculty, individuals descended from enslaved people, and architects. Participating institutions include the University of Virginia, Rutgers University, Michigan State University, Monticello, and Georgetown University. The first panel will focus on how institutions are engaging their histories of slavery. The second panel will focus on memory and memorialization. The event will include musical performances led by the Rev. Nolan Williams, Jr.
