Cavaliers Care Month
May 1, 2013
Welcome to Cavaliers Care month!
April is National Volunteering Month and the month of Thomas Jefferson’s birthday. In 2000, a group of young alumni founded the Cavaliers Care initiative, to serve as reminder to U.Va. alumni and friends about the importance of volunteer community service and reconnect to one of the University’s core values of public service.
Each year, DCHoos hosts multiple service events in February as part of that nationwide Cavaliers Care initiative. This year, we are hosting:
–N Street Village Resume/Interview Workshop
–Pet Adoption with List Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation
–DC Central Kitchen Evening Meal Prep
In past years, we have held numerous other service events as well, including
-Habitat for Humanity Restoration
-DC Schools Beautification Day
-Girls on the Run 5k
-Happy Hour Fundraiser
-Park Cleanup
-Nursing Home Visitation
If you are interested in learning more about DCHoos service activities, suggesting an event, or helping out, please contact us! We can be reached at uvaservice@dchoos.org.
