Be a Buddy Runner for the DC Girls on the Run 5k

Sunday, November 18th

Anacostia Park
(Anacostia Station)

$30

Girls on the Run teaches elementary and middle school girls fitness along with confidence, kindness, and self-care, culminating with a Community 5K at the end of their 12-week program. As a buddy runner, you will be supporting a child (typically in grades 3-5) who does not have a person to encourage them through the race. Don’t worry about being super fit as most of the girls are new to running and will take it slow. You do, however, need to be committed to making the race. You will be assigned a runner in the days before the race, and she will be counting on you!

There is no cost to register, but you will need to submit to a quick background check. Learn more about Girls on the Run. Register to be a 5K community buddy runner here. If you decide to volunteer, please send an email to Kristen Fletcher (kristenfletcher@yahoo.com). We’ll make an effort to meet up before the race and carpool if possible. After the race, join fellow DC Hoos at Supreme Core Cidery for a special brunch that includes an all-you-can-eat taco bar and flight of ciders.
