UVA alumna Diana Sun has trained hundreds of spokespersons, including CEOs, corporate executives, elected officials, and even an Olympic medalist along with his coach and family. In this seminar, Diana will give you the background, tools and tips to help you talk to the media – and any key audience – to enhance your marketing and advance your career. This session will help you get your point across whether you are in front of a camera, in a job interview, or in your weekly staff meeting.

About Diana Sun

Diana Sun (Col ’75) is the Director of Communications and Assistant County Manager for Arlington County, where she manages and directs all external and internal communications.  Before her current position, Diana served as Vice President in charge of Corporate Communications for Capital One, was appointed by President Clinton to be deputy director of Public Affairs for the International Trade Administration, and was vice president of Fleishman-Hillard, Inc., where she managed national media, specialized communications programs, news events and advocacy advertising.

Diana is active in several professional and volunteer organizations, and has received numerous accolades: a Silver Anvil award from the Public Relations Society of America; a Thoth award from PRSA’s Washington chapter; a Gold Circle award from the American Society of Association Executives; a Creativity in Public Relations Award from Inside PR magazine; and several awards from the National Association of Government Communicators and the International Association of Business Communicators.  She is the former Vice-Chair of Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP), a national non-profit dedicated to growing leaders, and a graduate and lifetime member of Leadership Arlington.

Since receiving her BA from UVA, Diana has remained committed to the University.  She serves on the editorial board of Virginia magazine and on UVA’s Alumni Association Board of Managers, and is also past Chair of UVA’s Asian and Asian Pacific American Alumni Network.
