Event Type: Webinars
Writing skills are a critical part of a career in any industry. When we learn to compose emails with impact, they can lead to new relationships and change our path forever.
Join communications expert and author Danny Rubin for an engaging, practical webinar on how to write with poise and leave the reader wanting more. Danny will walk you step-by-step through an authentic email for networking and to ask an employer about job opportunities. He will also show you the power of a short story as the intro paragraph to a cover letter.
As Danny says, “Write well. Open doors.” After the webinar, you’ll see what he means!
Danny Rubin (Col ’06) is an author and speaker trusted by students and young professionals for his practical advice on writing, networking and interpersonal skills.
He’s the author of Wait, How Do I Write This Email?, a collection of 100+ templates for networking, the job search and LinkedIn. It’s a popular resource for college students, recent grads, entrepreneurs and others who need to “get out there” and form new business relationships.
Rubin also maintains News To Live By (NTLB), a website that highlights the career advice “hidden” in the latest headlines. Since he began NTLB in 2012, it’s been viewed over 1.5 million times. A former TV news reporter and media consultant, Rubin has also provided audience strategies to NBC’s “Meet the Press,” MSNBC and USA TODAY.
Rubin graduated from UVa in 2006 with a degree in history. He’s a huge UVa sports fan and, time permitting in the webinar, will happily talk to anyone about Wahoo basketball.
