What is Giving TueHoosDay?

Giving TueHoosDay is December 3rd.

On December 3, 2013, join U.Va.’s Young Alumni Council for the University’s first-ever GivingTueHoosDay.

What is Giving TueHOOSday?

It’s simple. We have Black Friday to shop in stores and Cyber Monday to shop on-line. Giving TueHoosDay gives us the opportunity to remember the past and invest in the future. Make a gift to U.Va. on December 3 and help encourage a philanthropic citizenry.

Seriously though, Jefferson even has a quote about it: “I deem it the duty of every man to devote a certain portion of his income for charitable purposes; and that it is his further duty to see it so applied and to do the most good for which it is capable.”

Giving TueHoosDay was inspired by the national #GivingTuesday movement’s mission to create a national day of giving back.

How can I give?

Click here to make a gift of any amount to any area of the University that is meaningful to you, or fulfill an existing pledge, using our simple online giving form.

Why Should I Give?

Because U.Va. needs your support. Private philanthropy has provided crucial support for the University of Virginia since its founding in 1819. Currently, less than 6% of the University’s budget comes from the state of Virginia. Much of the rest depends on gifts from alumni and friends of the University like you. More details on the University’s funding can be found in the 2012-2013 Financing the University report.

What Else can I do?

We don’t know what will inspire your classmates. You do. Be creative. Spread the word. Let your U.Va. friends know that #GivingTueHoosDay was a success.
