September 11, 2001 Scholarship

The September 11, 2001, Endowed Scholarship Fund has been established by a core of University of Virginia alumni from the New York metropolitan area who were directly impacted by the tragic events of 9/11.  The September 11, 2001, Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to a rising second-, third- or fourth-year University of Virginia student who was similarly affected, either directly or indirectly, by those events.  Selection will be based on academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities and other contributions to the quality of life at the University of Virginia or in the local community.   Preference will be given to those applicants who lost a parent as a result of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.   The award may be used for tuition, room and board, or other educational expenses. The scholarship is renewable until graduation provided the recipient continues to achieve academically and demonstrate leadership, extracurricular involvement and good citizenship.  The award for the 2017–2018 academic year will be $3,000.
