Christopher L. Kness Memorial Scholarship

On April 11, 2001, Christopher Lee Kness was in a fatal car accident, bringing an abrupt end to the life of a dear son, student, colleague and friend.

Chris studied Accounting in the McIntire School of Commerce, earning a B.S. in 1998.  During his tenure at the University, Chris was an active part of the Corks & Curls Yearbook staff, taking on the leadership positions of Sports Section Editor and Business Manager.

Upon graduation, Chris began a promising career in Accounting with Price Waterhouse Coopers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he remained until his death.

Throughout his life, Chris was known for his compassion and integrity, his unassuming nature, his sincerity and sense of humor but most of all was known for his love and enjoyment of life.

This scholarship will benefit a rising fourth-year student at the University of Virginia.  This person shall be one who possesses the qualities of enthusiasm, the joy of work well done, the appreciation of friendship and the ability to extend friendship to others that so characterized Chris.

The scholarship will be for $900 for the 2017–2018 academic year.
