Why should I join the Alumni Association?

Student Life Membership is an opportunity for current UVA students to support the valuable programs and services provided by the Alumni Association and enjoy membership privileges before graduating.

Members receive discounts to vendors (such as the University Bookstores and Kaplan) and events around Grounds as well as exclusive special event invitations, privileges and promotional offers. Check out our annual schedule of events. You don’t want to miss Bingo or Taste of Charlottesville!

How do I join, and how much are dues?

Joining is easy. Click here to join online or stop by Alumni Hall, located across from Memorial Gym (211 Emmet St.). We are also present at events throughout the year, including Class Council and Trustee dinners, Taste of Charlottesville and First-Year Food Fest.

As a student life member, you can choose the payment plan that works best for you. Once you are fully paid, you are a member of the Alumni Association for life.

Post-grad installment plan: You can defer dues until after graduation, meaning you pay nothing and receive great benefits during your time on Grounds. Payments can be deferred if you go to graduate school or need more time to find a job. You can cancel your membership at any time with no obligation. The total cost for your membership on this plan is $500.

Pay in full now: You can pay for your membership now and save $100. Cost is $400.

Pay as you go: You can also choose to pay as you go, meaning you make smaller payments over multiple semesters. These plans allow you to become a paid in full life member before you graduate and to save $100, making the total cost of your membership $400. Choose from four, three, and two year options. Graduate a member for life!

What does the Alumni Association do?

Since 1838, The University of Virginia Alumni Association has provided the margin of excellence that defines the student experience and distinguishes Virginia as one of the leading academic institutions in the nation. It supports programs for alumni and students and serves as a connection to UVA.

Services and programs include the Admission Liaison Program, Reunions, career advising, alumni interest groups, the Virginia Magazine, class councils and scholarships and grants.

What are the member benefits of the Alumni Association?

Student life members receive $150 off membership if enrolled before graduation. No payments are due until after graduation, but pay as you go options are available. Members receive discounts to vendors (such as the University Bookstores and Kaplan) and events around Grounds as well as exclusive special event invitations, privileges and promotional offers.

As a student life member, you receive:
• $150 off membership if enrolled before graduation
• 10 percent Kaplan prep course discount
• 10 percent UVA Bookstores discount (does not include textbooks)
• Free access to exclusive member-only events
• Discounts to various events around Grounds
• Discounts at local restaurants

If I’m in graduate school, do I still have to pay?

Payment is delayed for students enrolled full-time in graduate school. Please notify the Alumni Association of your status, either by email or by phone. In your correspondence, please indicate your expected completion dates.

How do I cancel my membership, and is there a cancellation fee?

If necessary, you can cancel your membership at any time. There is no cancellation fee. Please inform the Association, either by email or phone of your request to cancel.

How can the Alumni Association help me in the future?

The Alumni Association will keep you connected with the University. Membership dues support numerous programs and projects, including the Virginia Magazine, HoosOnline Community, Reunions and other events.

Members also receive numerous discounts, including on fees for career services.
