About Safiya Edwards

Safiya Edwards (Col ’78) earned her BA in Biology and is an Echols Scholar. She also holds an MBA and an MPH from Yale University. Her first career was in managed care, where she worked in marketing and product development for Aetna, Cigna, and Consortium Health Plans (a Blues organization). Safiya converted her resume-writing hobby into her second career in 2000, when she joined Lee Hecht Harrison, the world’s largest outplacement firm. She currently manages the company’s fifth busiest US office and coaches individuals in transition at all levels from a variety of industries and functions. Safiya loves networking and views herself as a LinkedIn “evangelist” because “if you aren’t LinkedIn, you are left out”! She is a member of the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group, the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, and the Association of Career Professionals; she also sits on the Advisory Board for Peirce College’s Center of Excellence for Improvement of Healthcare Quality, Access, and Cost via Decision Support Software & Analysis. Her children are 32 and 16, so she balances babysitting for three grandchildren with helping her teenager learn how to drive!
