About Thomas Bachhuber

Thomas Bachhuber, Ed.D (Educ ’73, ’76) earned his Doctorate and Masters in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education.

Tom is President of the Board and Executive Director for The Center for Life Transitions. He is responsible for overall Center leadership and strategy, and is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM).

Tom was Director of the Career Development Center at UWM from 2003-2011; while Director, he also founded the UWM Career Transitions Center, a career center for adults in Milwaukee.  Prior to his time at UWM, Tom was the tenured Director of the Career Development Center at the University of Maryland and Assistant Dean/Director at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

His work with both universities and corporations has been extensive, providing training, research and recruitment strategies for several Fortune 500 companies including Pfizer, Kraft Foods, Merck & Company, Pepsi Cola, McKesson Supply, Sara Lee, Phillips Electronics, Schering-Plough, Deloitte & Touche and Nabisco.

Dr. Bachhuber’s publications include five books–Directions: a Guide to Career Planning (Houghton-Mifflin), A Parents Guide to Helping their Children with Educational and Career Decisions (Abbey Press) and three editions of The Best Graduate Business Schools (Macmillan/Simon Schuster).
